TABOO STUDIO is located in Mission Hills, a vibrant, historic neighborhood of San Diego situated on hills overlooking Old Town, Downtown San Diego, and San Diego Bay.

“I consider it an honor and a privilege to have been able to preserve and continue TABOO STUDIO from Jane Groover and Joanna Rhoades,” says new owner and resident artist, Julie Harris. “Since 1988 TABOO STUDIO has proudly represented the finest contemporary jewelry artists. Our studio currently has over seventy-five artists who are locally, nationally and internationally recognized. And each one of our artists is known for his or her distinct style and use of materials. Every piece in our studio is handmade, a one-of-a-kind or limited production. It is my goal to make everyone feel welcome when they walk into our studio and to share with them my passion and enthusiasm, for great design, originality, and all art forms.”

Collectors frequent TABOO STUDIO in search of new works by their favorite artists. TABOO STUDIO also designs and creates custom jewelry for clients utilizing their own stones or any of the large selection of stones from the gallery's collection.

The gallery hosts four major exhibitions per year and is available for group receptions, tours and artist presentations.

TABOO STUDIO was established in the Gaslamp District in downtown San Diego in 1988. West Lewis St. in Mission Hills has been our current location for over two decades.
